Tour Details
For 350 years Ottoman empire was controling Belgrade, which affected history, culture, architecture and lifestyle. Our tour will start at Republic square where we will describe important role of Knez MIhailo Obrenović in liberation from Ottomans. On our way we will stop at the Students park, after which we will go to see Sheikh Mustafa turbe, an Ottoman mausoleum, and Museum of Vuk and Dositej, which is example of the oriental architecture in the city. We will then go to the Bajrakli mosque, oldest preserved and only active mosque in the Belgrade. After we will go to the Kalemegdan park and Belgrade fortress, where we will refer to it's turbulent history and cultural influences that shaped the city, with visit of the most important sights in the fortification related to the Oriental heritage (church of St Petka, fountain of Mehmed pasha Sokolović, and Damat Ali pasha's turbe). We will visit Princess Ljubica's mansion, first modern serbian royal court, to experience the lifestyle of Serbian royalty, and the cultural mixture of East and West. At the end, we will go into the oldest functional tavern ?, for a traditional oriental coffee.
